Prostate Cancer Awareness – How can I tell if I have prostate cancer?
Typically, the first symptoms of prostate cancer are difficulty urinating, frequent urination, and blood in the urine. However, symptoms are not always present especially in the early stages of prostate cancer. If detected and treated in its earliest stages (when the cancer cells are only in the
prostate), your chances of survival are greatly increased. Early detection is key.
There are two main tests that are used to determine whether it is likely you have prostate cancer, even if there are no obvious symptoms. These are the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) test and the digital rectal exam (DRE).
